Gerald A. Matteucci, MD

Biography

Dr. Matteucci has lived in the tristate area most of his life. He received his undergraduate degree in biology at Fairmount State College in West Virginia.  In 1984, he earned a medical degree from the University of Bologna, Italy.  He attended medical residency in both surgical and internal medicine.  In 1990, he completed his anesthesia residency in Cleveland, Ohio.

In 1988, Dr. Matteucci received a direct commission to Captain in the United States Army from medical school, and was promoted to Colonel in 2006.  He is now retired from military life, but remains active in the medical community.  He continues to work in anesthesia at local area hospitals and surgery centers and is a Diplomat in the American Academy of Pain Management. He is a current member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Mahoning County Medical Society, Ohio Society of Anesthesiologists, Ohio State Medical Association, and the National Italian American Federation.  He is fluent in both English and Italian and served as Aviation Medical Examiner with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).  He continues to serve as adjunct faculty at Youngstown State University as didactic and clinical instructor for St. Elizabeth’s School for Nurse Anesthetists.

Dr. Matteucci devotes his spare time to his marriage and family.  He continues research in pain management.  His hobbies are fishing, golf, and gardening.
